It all started with my 25th birthday…
A sweet memory that would turn into one of our cherished traditions. My good friends pampered me. They took me out to eat. Took me on a GENEROUS shopping trip, we went to the movies, and they did my nails! I felt so loved and special! And someone else I know did too!
Haha. She dipped her toes in the water bucket. They were painted by none other than her 9-year-old friend whom she just absolutely adores and talks about all the time. She watched in awe as her nails were painted. And afterward she could not stop talking about them! She showed her daddy… who felt some kind of way about his baby girl having her nails painted. 🙂 She showed everyone at church the next day. And as the paint started to chip off, she asked to paint them again.
And thus began our mommy-daughter tradition. Every Saturday, we sit at the table. We lay down our nail polish towel, pick some polish and have a little mommy-daughter fun.
And I am so thankful. Thankful for my daughter. So thankful for special traditions.
Traditions Shape Our Families
A tradition is defined as “the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way.” If that is the case, then wow! Traditions, fun or serious, are a powerful way to pass on who we are as a family from generation to generation. It is such an important tool. Traditions can help us identify or create family identity.
So what about you? I want to hear from you!
