You are becoming Kiona? Who is Kiona?
To answer this question, I need to tell you a story. The year was 2011- the beginning of a new era in my life. I made what at the time seemed like a radical decision to take a detour from what I was “suppose to do”, that is college. I took a year off and was excited to explore all that God had for me. Eagerly I soaked up all that I could. As I mentioned in my About Page, I learned things about God I had never learned before- and in ways I had never learned Him.
Part of that new knowledge included a deeper understanding of how to pray. I learned how to clear my mind for intentional times of prayer, and how to really sit before the Lord and listen. One evening, I was spending some time praying and the Lord gave me a vision- A woman clothed in royal attire and surrounded by pure white snow. She was beautiful, and she was strong. She was a “Princess Warrior”.
Princess Warrior. I was so excited about this concept and all that I knew God would teach me through these two words. And He did teach me so much! Now this is a huge part of my identity and purpose. I had no idea at the time that these two words would hold so much meaning in my life and that 6 years later I would still be discovering all that they mean. I believe the words princess and warrior are essential to my identity and yours as well. What does it mean to be a beloved daughter of the King and a fierce warrior in His kingdom? What kind of implications does and should this have in your life and in mine? There will be much more to come on this topic!
Eventually, Kiona became the name I used to symbolize this vision. Kiona symbolizes the more in my life. Kiona for me symbolizes all that God still wants to do in me and through me for His name sake.
So what about you? Do you have a vision for who God wants you to become? Maybe it is not of a princess in the snow. Or maybe it’s not even a picture you can see. But God has placed something in you. He has given you such a unique and beautiful identity. Your life has so much purpose. So tell me, what is the more in your life?
